This agreement seeks to implement the Oslo I Agreement of 13 September 1993. It defines the security, electoral, public administration and economic arrangements during the interim period of five years from the date of the Agreement on the Gaza Strip and the Jericho Area of 4 May 1994 until permanent settlement in accordance with Security Council Resolution 242 and 338. It also calls for Israeli-Palestinian cooperation and the release of Palestinian detainees.
This agreement on 'Further Agreed Basic Principles' complements the 'Basic Principles' signed on 8 September 1995. The two agreements provide the principles for ending the Bosnian conflict. These principles address issues such as sovereignty, territory, relations with neighbours states, elections, human rights and displaced persons.
This pre-negotiation agreement provides the principle for negotiations and the agenda. It also identifies participants to the talks and the entities who will facilitate the talks (CONAI and COCOPA).
The agreed principles are established in two separate documents, Basic Principles signed on 8 September 1995 and Further Agreed Basic Principles signed on the 26 September 1995. Together they provide the principles for ending the Bosnian conflict. These principles address issues such as sovereignty, territory, relations with neighbours states, elections, human rights and displaced persons.
