The Egyptian-Israeli Armistice Agreement was one of a series of agreements concluded under the aegis of UN mediator Ralph Bunche, as empowered by UN Security Council resolution 1080 to facilitate the transition from the present truce to permanent peace in Palestine. The armistice includes an agreement by the parties to adhere scrupulously to the injunction of the Security Council against resort to military force in the settlement of the Palestine question.
