Joint Declaration of the Central American Presidents (Costa del Sol Declaration)

Signed at Tesoro Beach, Costa del Sol, El Salvador, on 14 February 1989, the agreement recommits the parties to the Esquipulas II and the Alajuela Declarations of 1987 and 989 and calls for actions aimed at  democratisation of the countries in conflict. The declaration also specifically calls the UN to send military observers to verify the security provisions of past agreements and to send a group of civilian observers to monitor the Nicaraguan electoral process.

This is an Comprehensive Agreement based on the principles established in Security Council Resolution RES/435 (1978). The Agreement is pursuant to the Brazzaville Protocol and commits the parties to the withdrawal of Foreign troops from Angola and measures to reach peace in the region.

This is a Preliminary Agreement  pursuant to Security Council Resolution 435 of 1978 (which calls for the withdrawal of South Africa Troops from Namibia). This Agreement commits Cuba and South Africa to undertake a future commitment to sign a Comprehensive Agreement to withdraw their troops from Angola.
